It was good to meet with Defence Minister, Luke Pollard, earlier this week to discuss opportunities for further defence investment in our area.
We spoke about the important role our region can play in supporting the UK’s defence sector and the benefits that increased investment could bring to local communities. Greater defence investment has the potential to create skilled jobs, expand apprenticeship opportunities and support local businesses throughout the supply chain.
I am continuing to make the case for our area and will keep working with ministers, industry and local partners to secure investment that delivers long-term economic growth and creates more opportunities for local people.
