Welcome to my website

It is a huge honour to serve as the Member of Parliament for Newton Aycliffe and Spennymoor, having been elected in July 2024.

I grew up in Newton Aycliffe, attended Stephenson Way Primary School, Woodham Comprehensive School (now Woodham Academy) and Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College in Darlington. My parents both worked locally and my roots in the area have shaped my commitment to our communities.

After university, I worked in the charity and voluntary sectors, including roles with Comic Relief, Volunteering England and the National Council for Voluntary Organisations. I was elected as a councillor in 2010 and went on to serve as Cabinet Member for Planning, Regeneration and Housing, leading major regeneration projects and helping create new opportunities for local people.

Before entering Parliament, I worked as a director at a national housing association and served on the board of a supported housing provider.

Education transformed my life, enabling me to study at Oxford University and later gain a master's degree from the London School of Economics while working full-time. That experience continues to drive my commitment to improving opportunities, skills and education for everyone.
